Bamudi Fm
Type Locality and Naming
Jiaolai Basin. The Bamudi Formation was named by Du Benming et al. (1991) the Jimo City of Shandong. The type section is in Bamudi Village of Diaojiadazhang, Fengcheng Town of the Jimo City.
Lithology and Thickness
The Bamudi Formation is a group of volcanic rocks. It consists of grayish red, grayish green andesite breccia agglomerate, pyroxene andesite, with intercalations of pyroxene basalt, trachyandesite and tuffaceous breccia. It is about 355 - 731 m in thickness.
Relationships and Distribution
Lower contact
In western Shandong, the Bamudi Formation is unconformably overlying the Malianpo Fm. In eastern Shandong, it is between the Qugezhuang Fm and Fanggezhuang Fm.
Upper contact
Regional extent
In western Shandong, the Bamudi Formation is unconformably underlying the Guanzhuang Fm. In eastern Shandong, it is between the Qugezhuang Fm and Fanggezhuang Fm
